I currently work as the science illustrator for the Dinosaur Institute (DI) at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. As an illustrator, I enjoy the excitement and challenge of combining scientific precision with artistic sensibility.
My illustrations have been published in several scientific publications including Nature and the The Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology, as well as in popular publications that include the books Glorified Dinosaurs, and the award-winning Dinosaur Eggs Discovered!, in GEO Magazine, the Los Angeles and New York Times, and numerous web sites.
In addition to freelance art projects and working as the illustrator for the DI, I also participate in field work with the DI where I help to prospect, map, and excavate dinosaur bones. The opportunity to do field work has been of tremendous value. From excavation to visual reconstruction, it is a delight to be involved with dinosaur research on so many different levels.
My personal background is in fine art, and I emphasized in painting and drawing as a student at the University of Southern California. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the USC Roski School of Fine Arts.
I have been inspired by Douglas Henderson, Robert Beverly Hale, James Gurney and of course Charles Knight.
COMMISSION
As time permits, I am currently accepting commission work.
